Today:

Breezy with brisk westerly winds in coastal regions. Mostly cloudy at first with showers, these dying out from the north to allow skies to brighten, though the south coast could hold onto a shower until later. Milder than of late. Maximum temperature 15 °C.

Tonight:

Mostly dry with broken cloud this evening, and southern parts staying mostly fine overnight. Meanwhile, outbreaks of rain edging in across northernmost parts. Staying relatively mild, with winds easing. Minimum temperature 8 °C.

Wednesday:

Periods of rain gradually becoming more widespread and persistent through the morning. Turning drier and brighter from the northwest later in the day. Lighter winds than lately. Feeling cooler. Maximum temperature 13 °C.

Outlook for Thursday to Saturday:

Turning more unsettled, though a little milder. Wet and windy at times with periods of heavy rain or showers and the chance of gales. Occasional drier spells with some sunshine.

The changeable and at times unsettled weather is likely to continue through early November, with low pressure dominating the UK. This means further showers or longer spells of rain at times. All parts could see some heavy rain, but it is likely that western areas will be wettest. Strong winds are likely from time to time, with gales or severe gales a possibility. Equally there should also be some, at least brief, drier or clearer interludes, these more prevalent further east, but perhaps becoming a little more widespread and long-lasting by the end of the period. With winds predominantly blowing from a westerly or southwesterly quadrant, above average temperatures are most likely, with a reduced incidence of overnight frost and fog, compared to normal, especially at first.

Unsettled conditions will probably be dominant across the UK at first, with showers or longer spells of rain for many areas and a risk of strong winds. Temperatures are expected to be around normal. During the second half of November, the most probable outcome is for increasing amounts of dry and fine weather, although with some overnight fog and frost. Any wetter spells are most likely to affect the north of the UK.
