Headline:

Heavy rain for some on Tuesday, then showery from mid-week.

This Evening and Tonight:

Some late sunshine for many but a few showers remain possible, these becoming mainly confined to coastal areas overnight. Turning rather chilly inland with a few fog patches developing in prone spots. Showery rain possible in west Cornwall by dawn Minimum temperature 6 °C.

Tuesday:

Showery rain turning more persistent across Cornwall and erratically spreading east, heavy in places with thunder possible. Brighter elsewhere, albeit a chance of showers later. Rather windy in the west. Maximum temperature 19 °C.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

A changeable period, with sunny spells and blustery showers, these frequent and occasionally heavy with hail and thunder possible. Often breezy and possibly windy at times. Turning a little cooler.

Generally unsettled with low pressure dominating much of the period. This will mean showers or longer spells of rain will affect most of the UK at times. A deep low likely crosses the country later on the weekend clearing early next week bringing heavy rain and strong winds. Following this a return to showers with periods of longer spells of rain is likely. Thunderstorms and hail are also possible, as are some spells of strong winds, especially if further deeper lows affect the UK. Later in the period, there may be some spells of drier weather that develop, especially towards the south, with more in the way of sunshine. Temperatures will likely be close to average or slightly below overall, but may rise above at times in drier, sunnier spells.

This period is likely to be changeable. Areas of low pressure are likely at times, especially towards the north of the UK. These will bring spells of rain and showers, some of which are likely to be heavy at times with a risk of hail and thunder, and some windy conditions, especially if any deep lows form. Some drier, more settled spells are also likely, especially towards the south, perhaps more particularly early in the period when higher pressure may be more dominant. Temperatures are likely to be close to or a little above average overall, although chilly nights with some fog patches are possible when and where skies are clear and winds light.
