Today:

A largely dry and often bright day with hazy sunny spells after overnight rain clears. Winds gradually easing in south Wales but staying very windy in the north and west with severe coastal gales and some damaging gusts of wind. Maximum temperature 8 °C.

Tonight:

Showers are possible this evening these heavy at times. Becoming mainly dry overnight with clear spells and some frost in the countryside. Minimum temperature -1 °C.

Saturday:

A mainly dry day with lengthy sunny periods, but showers are possible around western coasts with a band of heavier showers arriving later. Freshening winds during the afternoon. Maximum temperature 6 °C.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

Another wet and windy spell on Sunday with gales in places and some heavy rain possible. Remaining changeable and windy on Monday and Tuesday with showers. Temperatures close to average.

This looks like being and unsettled period across much of the country, but especially for northern and western parts. On Tuesday another widely unsettled day is expected with showers or some longer spells of rain, but also some drier and brighter interludes. Still windy but less so than over the previous few days. Through the rest of the period the strongest winds and heaviest rain will tend to move to the northwestern UK while the south may see more in the way of drier weather. Temperatures overall are likely to end up being around or slightly above average, though wind and rain will make it feel chilly, and brief cool spells with some overnight frost are likely between weather systems.

Generally mild at first, with periods of rain, showers and strong winds alternating with short-lived brighter and cooler interludes. Any rain and strong winds are more likely to affect northern parts during this period though, with pressure possibly building across southern areas in particular. This would result in longer drier and more-settled spells here, albeit with an increased chance of overnight fog and frost. Temperatures probably close to average with any colder interludes expected to be brief.
