A rather cloudy and increasingly breezy day with some locally heavy showers at first, followed by further frequent and occasionally heavy showers into the afternoon and evening, perhaps with the odd rumble of thunder. Maximum temperature 19 °C.

Tonight:

A band of heavy, perhaps thundery, rain clearing east by midnight. Clearer conditions to follow, with a few showers returning to the west later. Winds easing although still breezy. Minimum temperature 10 °C.

Thursday:

Showers becoming more frequent through the day and turning thundery in places. Sunny intervals in-between but breezy, especially along the coast, and feeling a little cooler. Maximum temperature 19 °C.

Outlook for Friday to Sunday:

Often windy with showers, heavy and perhaps thundery at times, and occasionally organising into longer bands of rain. A spell of heavy rain likely Sunday, with a risk of gales.

Likely a continuation of the unsettled theme at first with further showers each day on a brisk westerly wind. Risk of some stronger winds and heavy rain around the middle of the week, although this looks a low risk at this time. Later in the period, there may be a trend toward more in the way of settled and drier interludes interspersed with further periods of rain and showers. These look more likely across southern areas of the UK, but may extend to other parts at times. Temperatures will likely be close to average or slightly below overall, but if we start to see more in the way of dry weather later in the period, temperatures could recover back to a little above average at times.

This period is likely to be changeable. Areas of low pressure are likely at times, especially towards the north of the UK. These will bring spells of rain and showers, some of which are likely to be heavy at times with a risk of hail and thunder, and some windy conditions, especially if any deep lows form. Some drier, more settled spells are also likely, especially towards the south, perhaps more particularly early in the period when higher pressure may be more dominant. Temperatures are likely to be close to or a little above average overall, although chilly nights with some fog patches are possible when and where skies are clear and winds light.
