A breezy and largely cloudy start with a few showers. These clearing south through the morning, with sunny spells developing. Becoming widely dry by the afternoon, with winds easing a little, but still feeling rather chilly. Maximum temperature 12 °C.

Tonight:

Cloud thickening from the west, with some rain spreading east. Winds strengthening, especially over hills. Briefly dry after midnight, before a further band of showers spreads south, clearing by dawn. Minimum temperature 7 °C.

Tuesday:

Largely fine, with good spells of sunshine. However, cloudier at times across the Peak District, especially at first, with the odd shower possible. Staying breezy, particularly over the hills. Maximum temperature 13 °C.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

Sunshine and showers Wednesday, most frequent during the afternoon. Some fog patches possible Thursday morning, then largely fine before strong winds and rain spreads east overnight. Fine, but breezy Friday.

The end of October and first part of November is likely to be changeable with low pressure patterns tending to dominate, bringing spells of unsettled weather across the UK. This will mean showers or longer periods of rain will spread across most parts of the UK during this period. Some heavy rain is possible in all regions, but the largest totals will probably be across western areas. Strong winds are also likely at times, with a risk of gales. Between weather systems some short lived dry and bright intervals may develop, which bring the risk of overnight fog and frost. Temperatures overall though will probably be close to or slightly above average for the time of year.

Unsettled conditions will probably be dominant across the UK at first, with showers or longer spells of rain for many areas and a risk of strong winds. Temperatures are expected to be around normal. During the second half of November, the most probable outcome is for increasing amounts of dry and fine weather, although with some overnight fog and frost. Any wetter spells are most likely to affect the north of the UK.
