Mostly clear skies during the early evening before cloud arrives from the west bringing outbreaks of rain during the early hours. Breezy throughout, especially over hills before easing towards dawn. Minimum temperature 6 °C.

Wednesday:

Cloud and rain clear southeast through the morning, leaving drier and brighter spells in the afternoon. Breezy by day, easing overnight with isolated mist and fog forming in sheltered valleys. Maximum temperature 12 °C.

Outlook for Thursday to Saturday:

Mist and fog clear Thursday as cloud thickens from the west. Winds strengthen with rain arriving by evening. Friday brings sunny spells and scattered showers. Rain and strong winds Saturday.

The changeable and at times unsettled weather is likely to continue through early November, with low pressure dominating the UK. This means further showers or longer spells of rain at times. All parts could see some heavy rain, but it is likely that western areas will be wettest. Strong winds are likely from time to time, with gales or severe gales a possibility. Equally there should also be some, at least brief, drier or clearer interludes, these more prevalent further east, but perhaps becoming a little more widespread and long-lasting by the end of the period. With winds predominantly blowing from a westerly or southwesterly quadrant, above average temperatures are most likely, with a reduced incidence of overnight frost and fog, compared to normal, especially at first.

A gradual transition from an unsettled westerly type to something less unsettled is anticipated through the middle part of the month. With time, greater incidences of high pressure look set to affect the UK, bringing more in the way of dry weather, but also increasing the chances of overnight fog and frost. By later in the month, the majority of any wet and windy weather is more likely to affect areas further to the north. Overall, temperatures look to pan out near to a little above average.
