Great Dodd (Cumbria) weather

Headline:

Showers through Wednesday but turning windy towards the weekend.

Today:

A changeable day with bright spells and scattered showers, these locally heavy and mostly across Cumbria and near to the Irish Sea coast. Winds starting off breezy and strengthening in the north through the afternoon. Cooler than Tuesday. Maximum temperature 12 °C.

Tonight:

Showers continuing through this evening but becoming lighter and more isolated as winds start to ease. Clear skies developing allowing temperatures to fall away with isolated frost in places. Minimum temperature 3 °C.

Thursday:

A bright and settled start to the day, but cloud and rain moves in from the west. Winds strengthen from a southwesterly direction with the possibility of coastal gales. Maximum temperature 12 °C.

Outlook for Friday to Sunday:

The wet and windy theme continues for Friday and into the weekend, although it will start to feel milder. Turning more settled on Sunday with the return of sunny spells.

The changeable and at times unsettled weather is likely to continue through early November, with low pressure dominating the UK. This means further showers or longer spells of rain at times. All parts could see some heavy rain, but it is likely that western areas will be wettest. Strong winds are likely from time to time, with gales or severe gales a possibility. Equally there should also be some, at least brief, drier or clearer interludes, these more prevalent further east, but perhaps becoming a little more widespread and long-lasting by the end of the period. With winds predominantly blowing from a westerly or southwesterly quadrant, above average temperatures are most likely, with a reduced incidence of overnight frost and fog, compared to normal, especially at first.

A gradual transition from an unsettled westerly type to something less unsettled is anticipated through the middle part of the month. With time, greater incidences of high pressure look set to affect the UK, bringing more in the way of dry weather, but also increasing the chances of overnight fog and frost. By later in the month, the majority of any wet and windy weather is more likely to affect areas further to the north. Overall, temperatures look to pan out near to a little above average.
