Headline:

Rain spreading north on Tuesday, turning heavy in places.

This Evening and Tonight:

The odd light shower in the west at first, otherwise a dry night with clear spells. Becoming cold with patchy fog and frost in some rural parts. Cloud will increase later with rain following into the southwest by morning. Minimum temperature 2 °C.

Tuesday:

The cloud and outbreaks of rain in the southwest will continue to spread northeast during the morning. Rain becoming increasingly heavy, especially in the southwest with flooding possible in places. Maximum temperature 12 °C.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

Rain clears overnight then Wednesday stays mostly dry with sunny spells. Outbreaks of rain on Thursday, clearing later. Cold and dry on Friday with fresh northeast winds.

Many central and northern parts of the UK will likely be in a colder but drier regime than of late with overnight frosts, and a few showers near windward coasts in particular which may be wintry on high ground. However, it could remain cloudier, milder and wetter initially across some southern and southwestern areas, with some uncertainty as to how quickly this clears away to the south. It is most likely that the bulk of the UK will experience drier and colder conditions into the first part of next week. Later in the period there is increasing uncertainty, but a trend towards more changeable conditions is possible, with some rain or showers in places, and perhaps some hill snow at times in the north. Temperatures overall may return to near-average.

Whilst the expected weather patterns during late November are very uncertain, there is a greater chance of spells of high pressure during this period, bringing more in the way of dry weather compared to the current weather pattern, which also increases the chances of overnight fog and frost. There will probably still be some spells of rain, showers, and stronger winds though, especially in the west. Hill snow is also a possibility, mainly in the north. Overall, near or slightly above average temperatures are most likely, though some colder spells are also possible, especially should any prolonged settled spells develop.
