Today:

A glorious Bank Holiday Monday is on the cards. It will be dry with a good deal of sunshine, lifting temperatures into the mid to upper twenties Celsius. The heat will be tempered slightly later by a freshening southerly breeze. Maximum temperature 29 °C.

Tonight:

There will be some sunshine to end the day. However, a band of rain, some heavy, will sweep in from the west overnight, and it will be breezy. Remaining mild. Minimum temperature 11 °C.

Tuesday:

Overnight rain will soon clear eastwards on Tuesday to leave a day of sunshine and showers. Feeling much fresher than of late in a west to southwesterly breeze. Maximum temperature 21 °C.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

Low pressure will dominate the weather during the middle and end of the week. There will be further showers or longer spells of rain, and it will remain rather breezy.

Changeable and unsettled weather conditions are expected across the UK during this period with low pressure systems tending to dominate the overall pattern. This will mean showers or longer spells of rain will affect the majority of the UK at times. Some heavy rain or showers are expected in places, most often in the west, although with a risk some of this could spread to other areas at times. Thunderstorms and hail are also possible, as are some spells of strong winds if any deep areas of low pressure form in the vicinity of the UK. Some short-lived spells of drier weather are likely between systems. Temperatures will likely be close to average, but may rise above at times in any drier, sunnier spells.

Most signs indicate low pressure will continue to dominate initially, and therefore unsettled or changeable weather looks more likely. This brings potential for periods of strong winds and spells of rain, but with spells of fair weather in between. The south may turn more settled and drier as we head further into September. Confidence through this period remains low. Temperatures are likely to be near to, or slightly above average overall.
