Early brightness quickly disappearing as cloud builds. Rain arriving from the north in the afternoon. Increasingly breezy for all, though especially around coasts and hills. Maximum temperature 21 °C.

Tonight:

Rain turning heavy and persistent for a time in the evening before easing during the second half of the night. Remaining breezy and cloudy throughout with hill fog. Mild. Minimum temperature 14 °C.

Saturday:

Damp and grey for much of Saturday with outbreaks of rain and perhaps some heavier showers. Chance of some brighter breaks in the south. Breezy but feeling humid. Maximum temperature 22 °C.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

Turning fresher from Sunday. Bright and breezy to end the weekend with scattered showers, these becoming less frequent into next week with more sunny spells emerging. Winds easing by Tuesday.

Likely a fairly cool start to the period with a few showers still to clear from the east, but for most it should become fine and dry, although some chilly mornings are possible. Through the rest of the week any rain will tend to focus on the north or northwest of the country, with the south becoming predominantly dry. Temperatures are likely to remain close to, perhaps a little below average initially. However through the second half of the week and especially the following weekend there are signs that temperatures will begin to trend up, becoming warm or very warm once again, especially across southern parts of the UK, but perhaps more widely as we head toward the middle of July.

Changeable conditions with a predominantly northwest to southeast split in temperature and rainfall, and the potential for further occasional episodes of hot weather and thundery outbreaks, are considered likely to gradually give way to something more settled and dry overall through the second half of July. Temperatures are likely to be above average, with the greatest chance of very warm or hot spells in the south or southeast.
