Rip currents can occur on any beach but this beach has a greater risk of rips. Take care in the water.

    Wet and windy, with showers or longer spells of rain.

    Today:

    Cloudy and windy, with frequent showers or longer spells of rain most often affecting the west, with the best of limited drier interludes in the east. Gales are likely in exposure making it feel colder than temperatures suggest. Maximum temperature 17 °C.

    Tonight:

    Lengthier dry periods developing into the evening, however a further pulse of heavy rain and showers will move through southwards overnight. Staying windy but becoming mainly fine towards dawn. Minimum temperature 9 °C.

    Tuesday:

    A brighter day, however showers mainly affecting the Pennines at first may become more generalised later. More generally fine conditions then developing into the evening. Feeling warmer, with winds easing. Maximum temperature 18 °C.

    Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

    Wet and windy midweek especially, with more in the way of sunny spells expected later in the working week, although remaining unsettled. Near-average temperatures by day, mild by night.
