Some sunny spells in the evening and then clear periods overnight, though an isolated shower or two is still possible. North to northwest winds easing. Minimum temperature 10 °C.

Saturday:

It will be a dry day with some long spells of sunshine. Winds will be light. Maximum temperature 16 °C.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

Early rain soon clearing Sunday followed by good spells of sunshine. Storm Floris bringing heavy rain, severe gales and possibly storm force winds Monday. Sunny intervals and showers on Tuesday.

Dry with sunny spells to begin the period as high pressure moves across the UK. The pattern will then likely return to something more broadly changeable. A frontal system will likely lead to spells of rain and showers especially to the north and west. The general westerly pattern will then likely continue for a time with spells of rain or showers and some drier, brighter interludes, especially in the south and east. Temperatures will mainly be near average. As we move towards the middle of the month, there is an increased chance of high pressure becoming more dominant, leading to drier, more settled conditions becoming more widespread and above average temperatures. However, some brief unsettled spells remain possible.

High pressure, and therefore fairly settled conditions overall, appears most likely for the second half of August. The northwest may see more in the way of occasional rain or showers than other areas. Elsewhere, predominantly dry weather is likely to continue, although periods of showers and thunderstorms cannot be ruled out. Above average temperatures overall seem most likely, with the potential for hot spells to develop, especially in the east and south, these more probable further into August.
