Headline:

Turning much colder this week, breezy at times.

Today:

Largely fine with plenty of sunshine but noticably colder than of late, especially in the east with brisk northerly winds. Scattered showers affecting East Anglia through the morning, but these becoming restricted to coasts by the afternoon. Maximum temperature 8 °C.

Tonight:

Coastal showers easing to leave a dry, clear and cold night with strong winds easing. A frost possible very locally by the morning, most likely in rural western areas. Minimum temperature 1 °C.

Tuesday:

Variable cloud through the morning after a chilly start, but likely dry. Brighter for a time during the afternoon, then cloud and patchy rain spreads southeast towards the evening. Maximum temperature 7 °C.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

Areas of rain clearing southeast on Wednesday with strong winds developing. Cold and bright Thursday and Friday, overnight inland frosts and scattered coastal showers expected, these perhaps wintry in nature.

Many central and northern parts of the UK will likely be in a colder but drier regime than of late with overnight frosts, and a few showers near windward coasts in particular which may be wintry on high ground. However, it could remain cloudier, milder and wetter initially across some southern and southwestern areas, with some uncertainty as to how quickly this clears away to the south. It is most likely that the bulk of the UK will experience drier and colder conditions into the first part of next week. Later in the period there is increasing uncertainty, but a trend towards more changeable conditions is possible, with some rain or showers in places, and perhaps some hill snow at times in the north. Temperatures overall may return to near-average.

Whilst the expected weather patterns during late November are very uncertain, there is a greater chance of spells of high pressure during this period, bringing more in the way of dry weather compared to the current weather pattern, which also increases the chances of overnight fog and frost. There will probably still be some spells of rain, showers, and stronger winds though, especially in the west. Hill snow is also a possibility, mainly in the north. Overall, near or slightly above average temperatures are most likely, though some colder spells are also possible, especially should any prolonged settled spells develop.
