Today:

A mixture of sunshine and scattered showers today, these locally heavy. Fewer showers by this afternoon. Quite mild again but feeling cooler in the breeze, although winds easing later. Maximum temperature 10 °C.

Tonight:

Scattered showers continuing in coastal regions, but otherwise becoming drier with clear periods. Becoming rather chilly with some frost possible in sheltered spots inland. Turning windier in the west later. Minimum temperature 1 °C.

Saturday:

A largely fine day with sunny periods. Freshening southeasterly winds developing and turning windier in the west with some rain possible in Pembrokeshire later. Cooler. Maximum temperature 9 °C.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

Often cloudy and dull through this period with some rain and drizzle possible at first. Initially rather mild though gradually turning colder and somewhat brighter with an easterly breeze developing.

A gradual transition to more settled conditions is expected, as high pressure builds to the north of the UK. This will bring a strengthening easterly wind over the Christmas period, making it feel noticeably colder than of late. Whilst there will be a fair amount of dry weather, a few showers will still be possible, particularly across eastern and southern parts which may be wintry in places, more especially over high ground. High pressure will likely dominate the weather in the run up to the New Year, slowly drifting to the west. This will maintain largely settled conditions, although with an increasing chance of showers later in the period. Temperatures will be below average much of the time, with frost likely where clear skies and light winds prevail.

High pressure will probably remain influential across the UK during this period. This means an increasing likelihood of dry weather compared to the winter so far. Despite the greater signal for settled weather, showers or occasional bands of rain are still possible at times, especially later in the period towards January. These could be wintry in nature. Temperatures are expected to be close to normal for the time of year.
