Headline:

Cloudy with outbreaks heavy and showery rain. Windy.

Today:

A dry but cloudy start away from the Isles and west coast. Cloud, a strengthening wind and outbreaks of heavy rain west soon spread to all except Moray coastal areas. Rain turns to frequent showers from late afternoon. Maximum temperature 10 °C.

Tonight:

The evening will be cloudy and windy with frequent, at times heavy, showers along northern coasts. Showers clear from late evening. Bands of rain follow northeast from late evening. Minimum temperature 3 °C.

Monday:

Another cloudy and breezy day with bands of showery rain, some heavy, passing northeast from the early morning. Maximum temperature 14 °C.

Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:

Cloudy, windy, bands rain and showers, some heavy, pass northeast through most of this period. The wind will ease as Thursday becomes dry and bright.

Changeable and at times unsettled weather is likely to continue into the start of this period, with low pressure dominating the UK. This means further showers or longer spells of rain at times. All parts could see some heavy rain, but it is likely that western areas will be wettest. Strong winds are likely at times, with gales possible in the west. Equally there should also be some drier or clearer interludes, these more prevalent further east. A transition to a less unsettled pattern is possible later in the period making drier interludes more common. Above average temperatures are most likely, with a reduced incidence of overnight frost and fog, compared to normal, especially at first.

A transition to a less unsettled pattern is possible through mid-November. With time, there is a greater chance of incidences of high pressure bringing more in the way of dry weather, also increasing the chances of overnight fog and frost. There may however still be periods of rain, showers, and stronger winds, especially in the west. Weather patterns are very uncertain during late November. Overall, near or above average temperatures are most likely though some colder spells are possible, especially should any prolonged settled spells develop.
