It will be a dry night for many with clear spells. Cloudier over the Western Isles where the odd spot of rain is possible. Chilly in rural spots. Minimum temperature 3 °C.

Saturday:

Another largely dry and cloudy day with some bright or sunny spells breaking through. Cloudier over the Western Isles where some light rain is possible. Light south-easterly winds. Maximum temperature 19 °C.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

Remaining mostly cloudy with sunny spells at times. Some light outbreaks of rain possible Sunday and Monday with a band of heavier rain moving eastwards on Tuesday. Feeling increasingly warm.

This is due to large uncertainties surrounding the behaviour of ex-hurricane Erin at the beginning of the forecast and its subsequent impact on the large scale weather pattern over the UK. Probably beginning fine for the vast majority of areas, but a band of rain, already in or threatening the west, is likely to move slowly east, perhaps preceded by showers in the south. More changeable weather is likely thereafter, possibly even at times unsettled, with more in the way of rain, showers and stronger winds than recently. Starting off warm, especially in the south and east, but temperatures are likely to dip nearer to average for most of the rest of the period.

Most signs indicate low pressure could dominate, and therefore unsettled or changeable weather looks more likely. This brings potential for periods of strong winds and spells of rain, but with spells of fair weather in between. Confidence through this period, however, is low. Temperatures are likely to be near to, or slightly above average overall.
